How Much Does a POS System Actually Cost in Iraq? (2026)

If you've searched this, you've probably already hit the problem: most POS vendors in Iraq don't publish pricing at all. You fill out a form, someone calls you, and the number depends on how the conversation goes. Here's what the market actually looks like, and where the real costs are.

The three real cost buckets

Every POS system in Iraq charges you in some combination of three ways: a flat monthly subscription, a percentage of card transactions, and hardware. Vendors differ mainly in how they mix these, not in whether they charge for them.

  • Flat monthly subscription — usually IQD 10,000–40,000/month depending on what the system does. A simple digital menu costs less than a full POS with kitchen tickets, staff logins, and inventory.
  • Card transaction fees — typically 2.5–4% of the transaction, sometimes split between you and the customer. If you're cash-heavy (most of Iraq still is), this matters less than vendors want you to think.
  • Hardware — a card reader, a tablet for the counter, sometimes a receipt printer. Can run IQD 300,000–1,500,000 upfront if the vendor requires their own hardware, or IQD 0 if the system runs on a phone/tablet you already own.

The question that actually changes your price

Do you need online ordering, or just a digital menu? This is the single biggest price lever. A QR code that shows your menu and lets a waiter take the order the normal way is a much simpler (and cheaper) product than a system where customers order and pay from their own phone. Vendors — us included — often price the ordering tier lower than the menu-only tier, because the ordering tier generates transaction revenue the menu-only tier doesn't. Don't assume 'more features' always means 'more expensive' — ask for the actual number per tier.

What's worth paying extra for

Multi-language menus (Arabic, Kurdish, English, Turkish) if you get foreign customers. Kitchen ticket printing if you have more than a couple of tables — verbal orders get lost. Cash-drawer variance tracking if you've ever had an unexplained shortfall at close. Everything else — fancy dashboards, loyalty points, AI-anything — is nice but rarely the thing that pays for itself in month one.

What it costs with TU2

For restaurants specifically: Starter is IQD 15,000/month for a digital menu with zero fees. Business is IQD 10,000/month and adds online ordering, waiter POS, and kitchen tickets — the only cost beyond that is a 3% + IQD 150 fee on card orders your customers actually place. Setup is free either way. Other verticals (salons, gyms, clinics, markets, wholesalers) run IQD 10,000–40,000/month as a single flat plan with no ordering component.
