An empty appointment slot is lost income and a patient who may not get the care they need. Clinics can reduce this with a few simple routines.
Confirm every appointment
Message or call the day before. Ask the patient to confirm, and offer a simple way to reschedule. Patients who confirm are far more likely to arrive.
Book realistically
- Allow enough time per visit so that waiting does not make people leave.
- Keep a short list of patients who can come at short notice for cancelled slots.
- Tell patients exactly where to go and which documents to bring.
Keep the front desk organised
Record each patient with a name and phone number at check-in, and note which doctor and which service they used. A tidy directory lets you contact people who are due a follow-up.
TU2 Clinic (IQD 40,000 a month) provides check-in and checkout, a doctors roster, a service catalogue and a patient directory with visit history and spend. It deliberately holds no clinical or medical record fields yet, pending Iraq's data-protection law.
